Are dental implants available on the NHS?
Usually not. The NHS says implants are usually only available privately and are expensive. In rare cases the NHS provides them for people who cannot wear dentures for certain reasons, such as mouth cancer or an accident.
Private implant fees are set by each practice and depend on how many teeth are replaced and what the work involves. Ask for a written plan that lists every stage and its cost, including any scans, the crown or denture fitted on top, and the review appointments. Some practices publish fees on their profile here.
The NHS treatments for replacing missing teeth include dentures and bridges. Both are Band 3 treatments, £332.10 in England when we checked on 20 October 2026.

Questions people ask
How much do dental implants cost?
Each practice sets its own private fee, and some publish it on their profile. Compare written quotes that list every stage. We do not publish an average, because we have no source for one that we trust.
How do I check the dentist placing my implant?
Every dentist working in the UK must be registered with the General Dental Council. Search their name on the GDC register at gdc-uk.org before you agree to treatment.
How do I know a practice offers this treatment?
Each profile lists the treatments that practice says it provides. Services and dentists change, so ask the practice to confirm before you book.
What should I ask before booking?
Ask which dentist will treat you, whether the treatment is available on the NHS or only privately, and for a written treatment plan and costs before any work starts.
Can I switch dentist part-way through treatment?
Yes, you can choose another practice at any time. The new practice will need to assess you and may not be able to continue another practice's plan, so ask your current practice for your records and the treatment plan, and ask the new one what it can take on.
Are the practices listed here checked?
Every practice listed was on the Care Quality Commission register of dental services when its details were read from that register, and each profile shows that date. Practices that have claimed their listing have also passed our ownership check. This site is independent and not affiliated with the GDC, CQC or NHS.
